No snatching

John 10:28–29, “And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.”

What amazing promises we have from our Lord Jesus! The promise of our salvation is three-fold:

First, Jesus gives us “eternal life.” Our life today is so temporal – so fleeting. We are encumbered with pain, illnesses, disease, and decay. We endure these things & groan under the weight of them, yet we expect it. We simply say “that’s life,” and go on the best way we know how. Yet because of Christ Jesus, we have the promise of so much more! We have been promised eternal life – abundant, never-ending life, always in fellowship with our Lord & Savior, experiencing His love and grace throughout the everlasting ages.

Second, Jesus promises that we will “never perish.” Every man, woman, and child today eventually comes to the realization of death. Our people avoid it at all costs, dread it immensely, even show anger towards doctors who cannot prevent it – yet it still comes to us all. After all, it is appointed to man once to die, and after that the judgment. Apart from the glorious hope of the rapture, every single Christian will taste death…once. But we will taste it only once. In the eternal life that Christ promises, we will never perish, we will never again experience death. Once we are raised to life, we find that death has no sting & has no victory. The victory is won & the victor is the Lord!

Third, Jesus promises our life is assured – none can “snatch” us out of His hand. Skeptics will attempt to weaken our faith & the devil himself will attempt to devour us, but Christians can be assured that our salvation lies in the strong hand of our Savior! There is none more powerful than our Heavenly Father, and it is God Himself that hands us to Christ the Son – there is no might nor act of force powerful enough to snatch us away from He who bought us. We are His & He is ours forever, eternally into future.

Praise God for our glorious Savior, and the assured eternal salvation that He brings! May we stay rooted and grounded in Him, for in Him we find all we need.
